Why Is My Baby Walking on Tiptoes? (Tips to Stop It)

There is absolutely nothing in the world quite like watching your baby take those very first, wobbly steps. I still remember when my little one finally let go of the coffee table, stood up tall, and took two shaky steps toward me. My heart completely melted, and I think I actually cried a little. We spend months waiting for that milestone, cheering them on, and recording every tiny movement on our phones. But then, a few weeks later, the initial excitement started to mix with a bit of that classic "mom worry." I noticed my sweet baby wasn't walking flat on their feet anymore. Instead, they were bouncing around the living room completely up on their tiptoes, looking like a tiny, clumsy ballerina. If you are reading this right now because your own toddler is constantly strutting around on their tiptoes, take a deep breath. Drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and let that heavy anxiety go. You are doing an amazing job, and you are definitely not alone in worrying about t...

What to Mix with Avocado for Baby: 5 Easy, Tasty Combos

Hey there, fellow mamas! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that’s your thing)—hopefully, you get to drink it while it’s actually hot today!

If you are reading this, chances are you have a beautiful, chubby-cheeked little blessing who is just starting their food journey. It is such an exciting milestone, isn’t it? But let's be completely honest with each other for a second. It can also feel incredibly overwhelming.
I still remember the exact day I decided to introduce my first baby to solid foods. I was so excited. I bought the cutest little silicone spoons, a tiny green bowl, and the perfect, ripe avocado. I had read everywhere that avocado is the ultimate superfood for babies. It is packed with healthy fats, it is soft, and it is super nutritious. I mashed it up with so much love, sat my little one in the highchair, and offered the first spoonful.
And you know what happened? My baby made the absolute funniest face, sputtered, and pushed the spoon right back out.
I tasted it myself and realized... yeah, it is a bit bland and pheeka, isn't it? It has a very thick, unique texture that can be a bit much for a tiny tongue used to sweet, warm milk. I felt a little defeated, but I didn't want to give up on such a healthy food. So, I started experimenting in my kitchen, looking for the perfect, healthy, and tasty combinations to make avocado a hit.
Guess what? It worked! Today, I want to share my favorite 5 tried-and-tested avocado combinations that my babies absolutely loved. These will help your little one enjoy all the amazing health benefits of avocado without the fuss.
1. The Naturally Sweet Duo: Avocado and Banana (Kela)
When your baby is used to the natural sweetness of breastmilk or formula, plain avocado can taste a bit strange to them. The easiest way to fix this is by adding a familiar, sweet flavor. Enter the humble banana!
  • Why it works: Bananas are naturally sweet and have a lovely, smooth texture when mashed. They instantly mask the blandness of the avocado.
  • How to make it: Take half a ripe avocado and half a ripe banana. Mash them together thoroughly with a fork in a small bowl until the mixture is completely smooth. If your baby prefers a thinner consistency, you can add a splash of breastmilk or warm water.
  • Mom tip: This combo is an absolute lifesaver on busy mornings because it requires zero cooking or blending. Just mash and serve!
2. The Fresh & Fruity Mix: Avocado and Apple (Saib) Puree
If you want to add a refreshing twist to your baby’s meal, apples are your best friend. The gentle, tart sweetness of an apple cuts right through the richness of the avocado.
  • Why it works: Apples provide a wonderful dose of Vitamin C and fiber. Combining them with the healthy fats in avocado makes for a perfectly balanced, nutrient-dense meal.
  • How to make it: Peel and core one sweet apple, then cut it into small cubes. Steam the cubes until they are completely soft and tender. Let them cool down, then blend the steamed apple with half an avocado into a silky-smooth puree.
  • Mom tip: You can make a bigger batch of apple puree ahead of time and freeze it in silicone ice cube trays. When it is mealtime, just thaw one cube and mix it fresh with a freshly mashed avocado!
3. The Ultra-Creamy Blend: Avocado and Yogurt (Dahi)
Once your baby is ready for dairy (usually around 6 to 7 months, but always check with your pediatrician first), plain, unsweetened yogurt is a fantastic ingredient to introduce.
  • Why it works: Yogurt adds a lovely, tangy flavor and makes the texture incredibly velvety and smooth. Plus, it gives your growing baby an extra boost of calcium and protein.
  • How to make it: Scoop out the flesh of half an avocado. Add two tablespoons of whole-milk plain yogurt. Use a fork to mash it into a creamy paste, or give it a quick whiz in a small blender for a super fluffy texture.
  • Mom tip: Make sure you use plain, full-fat yogurt. Avoid the flavored, store-bought yogurts because they are packed with unnecessary added sugars that your sweet baby doesn't need.
4. The Comfort Mix: Avocado with Breastmilk or Formula
Sometimes, the best way to introduce a new food is to mix it with something your baby already knows, loves, and trusts completely.
  • Why it works: The familiar taste of your breastmilk or their regular formula provides a sense of comfort to your baby. It thins down the thick, heavy texture of plain avocado, making it much easier for them to swallow.
  • How to make it: Mash a few tablespoons of ripe avocado until there are absolutely no lumps left. Slowly pour in a little bit of expressed breastmilk or prepared formula. Stir it gently until it reaches a smooth, runny consistency that your baby can easily manage.
  • Mom tip: This is the absolute best combination for the very first week of introducing solids, as it transitions them gently from a purely liquid diet to solids.
5. The Warm & Cozy Combo: Avocado and Sweet Potato (Shakarkandi) Puree
As your baby grows a little older and gets used to basic flavors, you can start introducing comforting, warm root vegetables. Sweet potato is a massive favorite in my household.
  • Why it works: Sweet potatoes have a gorgeous color and a rich, comforting sweetness. When paired with avocado, it creates a very filling meal that keeps little tummies happy and satisfied for longer.
  • How to make it: Peel a small sweet potato and cut it into chunks. Steam or boil the chunks until you can easily pierce them with a fork. Let it cool, then mash or blend it together with half a ripe avocado.
  • Mom tip: This combination is perfect for an early evening meal. It is filling and soothing, which often helps babies sleep just a little bit better at night (and we all know how much we need that sleep, mama!).
A Very Important Golden Rule: The 4-Day Rule
Before you jump into the kitchen to try these delicious combinations, I want to share one very important piece of advice that every seasoned mama swears by. It is called The 4-Day Rule.
Whenever you introduce a brand-new food to your baby, introduce it all by itself for four days in a row before mixing it with anything else. For example, give your baby plain avocado for a few days first. Then, if you want to try the avocado-banana mix, make sure your baby has already safely tried banana on its own before.
Why do we do this? It is the safest way to check for allergies. If your baby develops a little rash, a tummy ache, or diarrhea, you will know exactly which food caused it. If you mix three new foods together all at once and your baby has a reaction, it becomes a stressful guessing game to figure out what went wrong. Take it slow, one single ingredient at a time. Your baby’s delicate system will thank you!
Trust Your Motherly Instincts
At the end of the day, please remember that every single baby is beautifully unique. Some babies take to solids instantly, while others need to try a food ten times before they finally decide they like it. If your little one rejects a meal, do not stress, and please do not blame yourself. Take a deep breath, clean up the mess, and try again tomorrow.
You are doing an absolutely incredible job, mama. The sleepless nights, the constant worrying, the kitchen cleanups—it is all a labor of love, and you are exactly the perfect mother your baby needs.
Which one of these combinations are you going to try first? If you have a special avocado mix that your little one loves, please share it with me in the comments below! Let's help each other out.
Sending you and your sweet baby so much love and happy feeding times!
Which combination do you think your baby will enjoy the most, or would you like a few more ideas for single-ingredient purees to try during the initial 4-day rule period?
